Module 4: Course Materials

Module 4 Objectives

To complete this module, please read the Overview, review the Readings, complete the Assignments, and review the Evaluation questions.

During this module, you will:

  • Collect, review, and adapt materials from experienced teachers
  • Begin creating your own course materials

Module 4 Overview

Having all your course materials ready before the semester will make your first semester teaching much less stressful. We will create folders for each week of the semester with appropriate materials. Of course, you may find that you need to adapt, change, improve your materials as you work through the semester. Experienced teachers are always refining their materials.

If you are teaching online, all materials must be ready on the first day of the semester.

The Professional Writing Group enjoys a very collaborative working relationship. We share any and everything. So, borrow and adapt materials when you are observing.

Module 4 Readings

Module 4 Assignments

Course Materials

Collect as many assignment sheets, handouts, rubrics, presentations, etc from experienced teachers. Begin adapting these materials for your own use. This can include changes in content, organization, and design. Participate in peer review of your materials. The goal is to have ALL course materials in weekly folders completed, peer reviewed, and approved before the end of the spring semester.

Create Syllabus Draft

Design your syllabus–include all required information and policies.

Lesson Plan template

Design your own lesson plan template to use for each day of your semester. This will be an evolving document.

If you are teaching online, design your weekly template instead of a daily template.
