The Professional Writing Program, housed in Tompkins Hall, is a part of the North Carolina State University English Department.

The purpose of this website is to share professional writing resources with the NC State community, including students and instructors, and with the general public.

The site shares information about the PW Program’s Policies and Procedures, which were developed┬áto ensure equitable treatment of students and consistency of instruction in all sections of each course.

The site also features resources for PW instructors, including assignment ideas and recommended readings related to teaching, writing, or workplace writing.

There are also resources featured here that, we hope, are helpful for anyone interested in professional writing. The two main types of public resources are the Communication in the Workplace reports, which began in 1996, and the Cube Talk videos, which feature professionals discussing important issues that relate to workplace communication. Both types of resources focus on the bridge between academic and workplace composition and discuss the importance of audience, document design, professional communication, and more.
